Visitor
Centers & Museums:
| In
Yellowstone National Park, the Albright Visitor Center
in Mammoth is open all year with exhibits on wildlife
and history. The Old Faithful Visitor Center, which
features a film about hydrothermal features, is open
from Mid-April to early November and late December
through early March. Old Faithful is only accessible
by oversnow vehicles in the winter. |

Fishing
Bridge Visitor Center, Grant Visitor Center, West Thumb
Information Station, and the Museum of the National Park
Ranger are open from late May through late September.
The Grant Visitor Center has an exhibit on the role of
fire in Yellowstone while the Fishing Bridge Visitor Center
offers exhibits on the park's birds and wildlife.

The Museum of the National Park Ranger, a historic solider
station, is located at Norris. From late May through early
October, the Canyon Visitor Center, Madison Information Station,
and the Norris Geyser Basin Museum are open. The Canyon Visitor
Center features a bison exhibit, while the Norris Geyser Basin
Museum has exhibits on the hydrothermal features of Yellowstone.

The
road from Gardiner to Cooke City, MT is open all year.
The rest of the park roads close on the first Monday
of November and reopen by sections beginning the third
Friday in April. Storms may cause temporary restrictions
or closures of roads. In addition, road construction
occurs every year and some roads maybe temporarily
closed due to construction. |
Park
Regulations:
Speed
limit: The speed limit is 45 mph or less in the
park
Wildlife: Feeding wildlife is against the
law. Food must be attended at all times when not in storage.
Calling to attract wildlife such as bugling to elk or
howling to the wolves is illegal. You must stay at least
100 yards away from bears and at least 25 yards away from
all other animals, including elk, bison, deer, moose,
and wolves. Every year visitors are gored by Bison, which
weigh up to 2,000 pounds and can run 30 miles per hour.
Pets: Pets must be leashed and are prohibited
in the backcountry, on trails and in hydrothermal areas.
Service Animals: Service animals are allowed
on trails and boardwalks in major areas, but require a
permit for the backcountry.
Fires: Fires are permitted only in designated
campgrounds and in some picnic areas with fire grates.
Fire regulations can change due to fire conditions, check
for updates.
Weapons: Firearms, including state-permitted
concealed weapons, are not allowed in Yellowstone.

Permits:
Fishing:
Children ages 12-15 require a non-fee permit;
persons aged 16 and older must purchase a fishing permit.
Children aged 11 and under may fish without a permit as
long as they are supervised by an adult with a permit.
No state fishing licenses are required. Fishing season
generally opens the last weekend in May and continues
through the first weekend of November. Check park fishing
regulations for the fishing season dates.
Boating: Motorized and non-motorized boats
& float tubes require permits. Boaters must have lifejackets
for each person boating.
